How to Connect Your Own Domain to ChanTan Studio
Connect a domain you bought anywhere — Namecheap, GoDaddy, Hostinger or any other — to your ChanTan app with CNAME lines only. HTTPS is done for you.
Any ending works here — .io, .ai, .ma, .fr… ChanTan sells 8 endings, but connects them all.
Already own a domain? You can connect it to your ChanTan app no matter where you bought it. Your site goes live on a free address first; your domain connects on top.
The rule is simple: you add lines of type CNAME, and nothing else.
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
CNAME |
@ |
domains.chantan.one |
CNAME |
www |
domains.chantan.one |
- CNAME = the line type that points your domain to us.
@= your domain itself (yoursite.com). Some providers want this box empty instead of@.- HTTPS (the 🔒 in the browser) is created for you. Nothing to buy, upload or configure.
💡 Your provider refuses a CNAME on @, or you have e-mail on this domain? Move your DNS to Cloudflare (free) and add the lines there. How
1. Publish your app
Your app must be published before a domain can point at it. Press "Publish" — the last item in your project header (on a phone, the round rocket icon at the end of the header row) — choose the "Free address" card, pick your address name on the "Pick your free address" screen, and press "Publish my app". The free address goes live in about 1–4 minutes. The full flow is in how to publish your app.
2. Open the domain section
Three ways to get there:
- During the first publish: choose the "I have a domain" card, then "Publish, then connect it". After your site is live, the success screen offers "Now connect {your domain} →" with your domain already filled in.
- Any time later: press "Publish" and use the domain section of "Your published app".
- Or open "Manage ▾" → "Domain" (this menu item appears once your app is published).
3. Type your domain
Type the domain you bought, like yoursite.com, and continue. ChanTan looks it up and tells you:
- where your domain's settings are ("Your domain's settings are at Namecheap") — that is where you add the lines;
- whether your domain receives e-mail — this changes which lines are safe (see the next step);
- what your domain shows today (a parking page, a YouCan store, another site…). If a real site or store is there, ChanTan asks first: after the change, your domain shows your ChanTan app instead. The old store itself stays in its own account.
4. Add the lines at your provider
Log in where your domain's settings are and open the page with your domain's settings (often called DNS, DNS Zone or Manage DNS). ChanTan shows the lines in your provider's own words, with a Copy button on the name and on the value.
First delete the old lines named @ or www (often called "Parked", "Forwarding", or type A / AAAA). They send visitors to your old page.
⚠️ Does your domain receive e-mail (an address like
[email protected])? Do not add a CNAME on @ at your provider — it stops your e-mail. Do one of these instead:
- add only the www line, then turn on Forwarding of
yoursite.comtohttps://www.yoursite.comat your provider; or- move your DNS to Cloudflare, where the CNAME on @ and your e-mail lines can live together.
No e-mail on this domain? Then add both lines:
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
CNAME |
@ |
domains.chantan.one |
CNAME |
www |
domains.chantan.one |
"www only" — one line
Some providers do not accept a CNAME on @ (GoDaddy and Hostinger, for example). Then add only:
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
CNAME |
www |
domains.chantan.one |
Your app's address is then www.yoursite.com. People who type yoursite.com without www will see an error — unless you turn on Forwarding at your provider: yoursite.com → https://www.yoursite.com (permanent, 301).
5. Press "Check now" and read the card
When the lines are in, come back and press "I added them — check now". You can close the page — ChanTan keeps checking by itself. Usually live in 5–30 minutes. Just added a line? It can take up to 3 hours (rarely 24 h).
What the card shows
The card has one line per record, and each line tells you exactly what to do:
| On the card | What to do |
|---|---|
| ✅ line is correct | Nothing. |
| ❌ we can't see this line yet | Add it at your provider (the card shows it again). Just added it? It can take up to 3 hours. |
| ❌ this line goes to … | Edit that line so its value is domains.chantan.one. |
| ❌ this line is type A (an old address, a number) | Delete it, then add the CNAME line the card shows. |
| ❌ delete the old line on @ of type AAAA (another old address) | Delete it. |
| ⏳ Secure connection (the 🔒 in the browser) | Nothing — we turn it on by ourselves, usually under 15 minutes, once every line is ✅. |
✅ You're done when the card says "Live". It only says Live when your address works and its 🔒 is active.
How often ChanTan checks for you:
| Age of the connection | Checked every |
|---|---|
| First hour | 5 minutes |
| 1–24 hours | 15 minutes |
| 24–48 hours | 2 hours |
| After 48 hours | once a day — or press "Check now" yourself (up to 30× a minute) |
The card always shows when it last checked and when it checks next. Your domain is never lost because checks slow down.
Other ways to connect ▾ on the card: switch to "www only", or read how to move your DNS to Cloudflare.
Move your DNS to Cloudflare (free)
Use this when your provider refuses a CNAME on @, or when your domain has e-mail and you want yoursite.com itself to open your app. Your domain stays where it is — only its settings page moves.
- Take a screenshot of every line on your provider's DNS page (so you can undo).
- Turn off DNSSEC at your provider, if it is on — then wait a day before step 9.
- Create a free Cloudflare account at cloudflare.com.
- Click Add a domain, type
yoursite.com, and pick the Free plan. - Check that your e-mail lines were imported BEFORE anything else (type MX, a TXT line with
spf, lines with_domainkey). Compare with your screenshot; add any missing line by hand. - Delete the copied lines named
@andwww(they point to your old site). - Add: Type
CNAME· Name@· Targetdomains.chantan.one· cloud grey ("DNS only"). - Add: Type
CNAME· Namewww· Targetdomains.chantan.one· cloud grey ("DNS only"). - At your provider, replace the nameservers with the 2 nameservers Cloudflare gives you (often under "Nameservers" → "Custom").
- Wait — usually under 1 hour, up to 24 hours.
- Cloudflare sends you an e-mail when your domain is active.
- Come back to ChanTan and press "Check now".
Undo: put the old nameservers back at your provider.
💡 Cloudflare asks for a plan → choose Free. You do not transfer your domain: it stays at your provider, and you keep paying for it there.
Is your domain at Namecheap?
- You pay for it at Namecheap, and its nameservers end in
registrar-servers.com. - Where to click: Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS → Host Records → Add New Record. (If you see no Host Records, your domain uses other nameservers — the lines go where those point.)
- Your lines, in Namecheap's words: Type
CNAME Record· Host@· Valuedomains.chantan.one, then TypeCNAME Record· Hostwww· Valuedomains.chantan.one. - Delete these first: the parking lines — usually a
URL Redirect Recordon@and aCNAME Recordonwwwpointing toparkingpage.namecheap.com. - If you see this error: a line already exists for that Host → delete or Edit the old one, then save.
- How long it takes: usually 5–30 minutes.
- If Namecheap says no (or your domain has e-mail): add only the
wwwline and turn on a redirect of@tohttps://www.yoursite.com, or move your DNS to Cloudflare.
Is your domain at Hostinger?
- You see it in Hostinger's control panel (hPanel), and its nameservers are often
ns1.dns-parking.com/ns2.dns-parking.com. - Where to click: Domains → your domain → DNS / Nameservers → manage DNS records.
- Your lines, in Hostinger's words: Type
CNAME· Namewww· Points todomains.chantan.one. - Delete these first: Hostinger usually already has a
wwwline → Edit it (or delete it and add yours). Lines of type A / AAAA onwww→ delete. - If you see this error: Hostinger refuses a CNAME on
@— that is expected, see below. - How long it takes: usually 5–30 minutes; up to 3 hours.
- If Hostinger says no: Hostinger does not accept a CNAME on
@→ add thewwwline, then set up a redirect / forwarding ofyoursite.comtohttps://www.yoursite.com(permanent), or move your DNS to Cloudflare.
Is your domain at GoDaddy?
- You pay for it at GoDaddy, and its nameservers end in
domaincontrol.com. - Where to click: My Products → your domain → DNS (Manage DNS).
- Your lines, in GoDaddy's words: Type
CNAME· Namewww· Datadomains.chantan.one. GoDaddy already has awwwline → Edit it, do not add a second one. - Delete these first: any other line named
www(type A / AAAA). - If you see this error: "record already exists" or a conflict on
www→ Edit the existingwwwline instead. - How long it takes: usually 5–30 minutes; up to 3 hours.
- If GoDaddy says no: GoDaddy does not accept a CNAME on
@→ add thewwwline, then turn on Forwarding:yoursite.com→https://www.yoursite.com(Permanent 301). Or move your DNS to Cloudflare.
Is your domain at YouCan?
- Your domain opens your YouCan store today, or you bought it inside YouCan.
- Keep the store, and put ChanTan on another address like
shop.yoursite.com? Not supported yet — write to us from the domain page. - Replace the store with your ChanTan app:
- Domain bought somewhere else and pointed at YouCan → do the steps for that provider (above or below): delete the lines that point to YouCan, add the CNAME lines.
- Domain bought inside YouCan → ask YouCan support where your domain's settings page is, then add the lines there.
- If YouCan says no: use "www only", or move your DNS to Cloudflare if YouCan lets you change the nameservers.
Is your domain on Cloudflare?
- Its nameservers end in
ns.cloudflare.com. - Where to click: your domain → DNS → Records → Add record.
- Your lines, in Cloudflare's words: Type
CNAME· Name@· Targetdomains.chantan.one, then TypeCNAME· Namewww· Targetdomains.chantan.one. Proxy status: DNS only (grey cloud). - Delete these first: any old line named
@orwww(type A, AAAA or CNAME). - If you see this error: "a record with that host already exists" → Edit or delete the old line first.
- Orange cloud? Click it so it turns grey ("DNS only"). An orange cloud hides our address and the check cannot pass.
- How long it takes: usually a few minutes.
- If Cloudflare says no: this does not happen for CNAME lines — write to us from the domain page.
Is your domain at Dynadot?
- Where to click: My Domains → your domain → DNS Settings (with Dynadot's own DNS selected).
- Your lines: the root (
@) goes in the main domain record section: typeCNAME, valuedomains.chantan.one.wwwgoes under Subdomain Records: subdomainwww, typeCNAME, valuedomains.chantan.one. - If Dynadot says no, or your domain has e-mail: only the
wwwline + forwarding, or move your DNS to Cloudflare.
Other providers
Same two lines, usually called Type / Name / Value. @ = your domain itself; some providers want the Name box empty. If your provider refuses a CNAME on @, or your domain has e-mail: add only www + Forwarding, or move your DNS to Cloudflare.
My provider works by support ticket
Some providers (often country domains like .ae or .sa) only change lines when you ask them. Copy this message.
If your domain has no e-mail:
Hello, please make these DNS changes for my domain yoursite.com:
- Add a CNAME record: name www, value domains.chantan.one.
- Delete any other record named www (types A, AAAA or CNAME).
- For the root (yoursite.com): if your system allows a CNAME on the root, add CNAME @ → domains.chantan.one and delete the A and AAAA records on @; if it doesn't, set web forwarding of yoursite.com to https://www.yoursite.com (permanent, 301).
- Please do not change my nameservers or my MX / e-mail records.
Thank you.
If your domain has e-mail:
Hello, please make these DNS changes for my domain yoursite.com:
- Add a CNAME record: name www, value domains.chantan.one.
- Delete any other record named www (types A, AAAA or CNAME).
- For the root (yoursite.com): please only set web forwarding of yoursite.com to https://www.yoursite.com (permanent, 301). Do not add a CNAME on @.
- Please do not change my nameservers or my MX / e-mail records.
Thank you.
Providers that work by ticket usually answer in 1–3 working days.
Questions in the first week
- Will my e-mail stop? Not if you follow the e-mail rule above: no CNAME on
@at your provider when your domain receives e-mail. Lines of type MX are never touched by ChanTan. - My provider says "record already exists". A line with that name is already there → Edit it instead of adding a new one.
- Cloudflare asks me to choose a plan. Choose Free.
- Do I have to transfer my domain? No. It stays at your provider; only its settings page moves to Cloudflare.
- My old site or store disappeared. That is expected: your domain now shows your ChanTan app. The old store still exists in its own account.
- 2 hours later, a line is still ❌. It can take up to 3 hours, rarely 24 h. Then press "Check now". Still ❌? Compare the line with the card letter by letter.
- Sign-in and payments: when you chose "www only", your app's address is
www.yoursite.com— use that exact address in Google sign-in, Stripe and similar settings. - How do I undo the Cloudflare move? Put the old nameservers back at your provider.
Good to know
- Connecting several domains? Mark one as "Primary".
- DNS editing inside ChanTan exists only for domains bought through ChanTan. For a domain bought elsewhere, ChanTan checks the lines but cannot edit them.
- Removing a domain never deletes it. Your domain stops showing your app; the domain stays yours, and your free ChanTan address keeps working.
When to contact support
If every line is ✅ but the card is still not live after 2 hours — or the card names something you can't change at your provider — write to [email protected]. Include your domain name, your project name, and the exact wording on the card. Bought the domain through ChanTan? Add the "Order {id}" from the purchase screen too.
